Free California CLE and MCLE for Attorneys is at your fingertips, including ethics, professional responsibility and substance abuse.  Staying up to date with California’s MCLE requirements does not have to be costly. Listed are below are over 25 credit hours of free, on-demand participatory MCLE. If you find these resources helpful, consider sharing them with your colleagues.   • LEXVID Lexvid has a great selection of on-demand video CLE courses across 28 practices areas for California. Programs include ethics, bias, and substance abuse.
  • Law Line Law Line offers a 10 day free trial, but to earn CLE credit, you need to pay. An unlimited, one-year subscription is $199 (cheaper than Audible), which can come in handy and save time.
  • Practicing Law Institute PLI has free CLE-accredited courses on trial skills, family law, veterans benefits, bankruptcy and eviction defense. Search for “free” in the “on-demand” collection.
  • National Institute for Trial Advocacy NITA offers periodic webinars covering fundamental trial skills at no cost.
  • National Academy of CLE Similar to MCLEZ, the website offers one free CLE hour credit.
  • Attorney Et Al. 26 hours of CA self study in eight courses, inc. bias, abuse & ethics.  Read the California section to see which courses are eligible and use the link at bottom of page.  Requires free registration.
  • Legislative Intent Services LIS offers 3 self study courses (3 hours MCLE) and will grade them for free. The course are helpful, but somewhat self-promotional.
  • MCLEZ.com Online MCLE library MCLEZ.com offers one free hour of their premium online courses. Videos cover all major practice areas, ethics, substance abuse and bias.
  • Legal Aid Assn. Cal. A great collection of on-demand self-study courses covering various consumer and public interest practice areas.

  • Westlaw EdCenter One free course of choice if you watch a commercial, and several free on demand courses if you open a free account.
  • AttPro Free professional responsibility (i.e., ethics) webminars offered periodically. Check website for details.
  • Fastcase Online webinars (scheduled) about using the legal research tools offered by the company.
  • Chapman University On-demand videos for self-study credit by Chapman’s Fowler School of Law.  Plenty of hours, but few topics. Find them in the 2014-2015 archives.
  • Lexis University Lexis offers a number of live online seminars for CLE credit. Click to see what is coming up.
  • Online Mediation Sign-up for free negotiation and mediation course, good for 4 hours California credit, including 1 hr ethics.
  • Above the Law Above the law has a deal with Law Line, so that you can get one hour per month. This page lists the lecture for this month.
  • LawPay LawPay offers a dozen on-demand courses for free CLE credit, mostly related to ethics. Surprisingly high quality.
  • California Lawyers Association CLA was established in 2018 as a spin off from the California Bar Association.  It has one hour of free CLE for non-members.
  • One LLP Intellectual property firm One LLP offers several on-demand videos on IP law and litigation.
  • California Bar Association Log into your attorney profile to find a link to CLE. As of Jan. 2020, there are two hours of free ethics.
  • Rutter Group The Rutter Group online website offers a free hour of their online training.
  • 4FreeCLE WEBINARS. A blog that tracks online presentations eligible for California MCLE credit.
  • Barkley WEBINARS. This court reporting service offers periodic CLE webinars on various topics.
